 Abstract: Current fMRI-methods are based on changes in cerebral blood flow and/or oxygenation. Since these methods measure hemodynamic signals, changes in BOLD or CBF may not always accurately reflect changes in the actual energy use of the brain. We determined CMRO2 in macaques during visual stimulation at high resolution. The CMRO2values and the ratio of fractional CBF and CMRO2 changes were consistent with those reported in the literature.
