Abstract: The status of experimental TeV gamma ray astronomy is summarized, with emphasis on the newer results, which include the first image of a supernova shell with resolved morphology and the detection of the Galactic Centre region as a TeV source. A puzzle remains that a number of seemingly established southern TeV sources could not be confirmed in recent observations by the new H.E.S.S. instrument.
