Abstract: A genome-wide expression atlas of the nervous system at cellular resolution would be a valuable resource for neurobiology, genetics, developmental biology and medicine. Progress in automation of in situ hybridization makes such an atlas possible. Standardized and computerized annotation of expression patterns will be critical for producing a searchable atlas database that can be accessed through the internet.
