Abstract:
Diffuse neutron scattering experiments with unpolarized neutrons in zero field have been performed on a CeAl2 single crystal in the temperature range 2.5 K to 300 K. At the lowest temperature we observe collective excitations in the system. At higher temperatures the energy spectra can be analysed in terms of quasielastic and inelastic lines due to the crystal field splitting of the Ce ions.
