Abstract: Redox-based chemotherapy: The irreversible inhibition of human glutathione reductase results in a unique S-AuI-S coordination, which was determined crystallographically. The chemotherapeutic potential of phosphine–metal complexes was probed by kinetic analysis of the fast and effective inhibition of redox enzymes as well as by DNA-interaction studies and cell-proliferation tests.
