 Abstract: A microcavity biosensor monitors optical resonances in micro-and nanostrucrtures for label-free detection of molecules and their interactions. I will give an introduction to the field of microcavity biosensing and present an overview on the current state-of-the art. I will emphasize recent applications of optical microcavities for nanoparticle detection, trapping and manipulation, and I will highlight different modalities for ultra-sensitve label-free biosensing.
