Abstract: We evaluated properties of a resonant inductive decoupling (RID) network used for decoupling of a two-channel loop array. We show that three previously published designs for an RID network can each be represented by an equivalent circuits providing similar behavior. An array with an RID can be optimized by an RF circuit optimizer without requiring analytical solutions for optimal RID component values. An RID can compensate both resistive and reactive components of the S-parameter matrix, but cannot eliminate power deposition by overlapped electrical fields in conductive tissues. The RID with the largest relative frequency shift gives the greatest reduction of the influence of the RID leakage field on the array near-field profile.
