Abstract: Research on capitalism has many tools that are useful in analyzing the Chinese economy. They enable us to develop a substantiated characterization of China as a specific variant of capitalism – a market-liberal, competition-driven state capitalism. It is possible to identify some of the peculiarities of the Chinese system – a dynamic form of political dirigisme, distinctive forms of competition and private-public company organization, a fragmented type of corporatism in work relations, and strict regulation of money and financial relations. Another special feature is a conflictive-cooperative approach toward integrating into the world economy, into East Asian relations, and into further transnational relations within a “China Circle.”
