Abstract: The aim of this thesis was the development and application of mass spectrometric method for the investigation of key intermediates in several organocatalytic reactions which will provide a foundation for the establishment of their reaction mechanisms. The analytical methods implemented for the purpose were triple quadrupole mass spectrometry including MS/MS technique and Fourier Transform-Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry to obtain the structural information and accurate mass in order to determine the reactive intermediates from the reactions. Another important application was the use of a new ionization technique so called Atmospheric Pressure Laser Ionization for the study of the ionization reaction in mass spectrometry.
