 Abstract: Perfect atom economy characterizes a novel catalytic three‐component Ugi reaction (see example). Different α‐amino amides are formed in good yields from aldehydes, primary amines, and isocyanides in the presence of phenyl phosphinic acid as the catalyst. The products will be useful for the synthesis of α‐amino acid derivatives and in diversity‐oriented synthesis.
