Zusammenfassung: The present work is concerned with three important aspects of ordered mesoporous materials:
1. removal of the liquid crystal template usually employed for the synthesis,
2. framework structure and composition, and
3. morphology control of mesoporous silica fibers.
The removal of the template by calcination is studied by combining high temperature X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis and mass spectrometry, allowing precise in situ investigations. Comparison is made between different porous materials based on silica (MCM-41, MCM-48, SBA-3, SBA-15), titania and zirconia. In addition, the synthesis of the first porous mesostructured zirconium oxo-phosphate with 3-D bicontinuous
cubic (Ia3d) symmetry is presented. Further, the effects of the addition of alcohols and amines as co-surfactants on the mesoscopic ordering and porosity of mesoporous silica are described.
Finally, the specific internal circular structure revealed for spontaneously grown mesoporous silica fibers is generalized, and detailed characterization and kinetic studies are provided, as well as a description of novel mesoporous fibers exhibiting hollow center.
