Abstract: The spanandry in some Allopauropos species indicates a decrease of sexual reproduction. In certain species, A. vulgaris and A. cuenoti, the low sex ratios in the northernmost and southernmost parts of their West Palaearctic range indicate asexual reproduction there. At least some species in the subgenus Decapauropus have an additional adult stage with 10 pairs of legs in the females only. The high proportion of this stage in A. vulgaris and A. cuenoti in North Europe might be an adaptation to a mode of reproduction suitable for areas where the species has difficulties in reproducing normally. For the first time possible parthenogenetic reproduction has been indicated in the nominate subgenus.
