 Abstract: We review aspects of the light-cone quantisation of the 11-dimensional supermembrane world volume theory. We explicitly construct vertex operators for the massless states of the eleven dimensional supergraviton multiplet and study their interactions. The open supermembrane and its vertex operators are also discussed. Moreover we show how our results have direct applications to Matrix theory by the appropriate regularisation of the supermembrane.
