Abstract:
We numerically investigated the performance of
an 8-channel loop-based MRI RF transceiver coil of length 200
mm at 300 MHz. The transceiver was loaded by three human
head models placed at five axial positions. For each position and
size of the model a set of tune capacitors was obtained, and the
robustness and safety of near field generation was evaluated.
The transceiver coil showed high robustness, although the safety
supervision factor needed to be adjusted for each head position.
An optimal head position could be found that did not require
transceiver retuning. In this position, a possible reduction of
both transmit RF magnetic field and safety excitation efficiency
needs to be monitored.
