Abstract:
Ba3[FeN3] [hexagonal, P6(3)/m (Nr. 176); a = 801.4(1) pm, c = 560.8(1)
pm; Z = 2] was prepared by reaction of barium with nitrogen in
iron-crucibles at 1000-degrees-C. The crystal structure contains
trigonal-planar anions [FeN3]6- which are isosteric to carbonate-ions
[Fe-N: 173.0(12) pm]. The homologous compound Sr3[FeN3] was determined
to be an isotype of Ba3[FeN3].
