The magnetization of CeAl2 and different Ce1−xLaxAl2 alloys (0.3≤x≤0.85) has been measured at T=1.4 K and 4.2 K and in magnetic fields B ≤ 20 T. For all samples studied and in the whole ranges of temperature and field, the magnetization follows a universal curve M b=geff(x)B/(T+T★(x)). The values of T★(x) and geff(x) account for a single-ion Kondo effect of Ce3+ and for ferromagnetic short-range ordering effects, respectively, and agree well with the corresponding values inferred from previous specific-heat measurements.
