Abstract: The preparation of high quality mesostructures made from zirconium sulfate and -phosphate and the resulting new porous structures “zirconium oxide- sulfate” and “zirconium oxo phosphate” is presented. The presence of phosphate and sulfate ions causes a crystallization delay of the amorphous zirconia phase. Therefore, by stabilizing the amorphous phase, the mesostructures are thermally stable up to 500 °C without loosing their ordered pore structure and their high surface area.
