Abstract: Analogous to the synthesis of MCM-41, a mesostructured product (shown schematically on the right) can be obtained from aqueous solutions of zirconium sulfate by addition of alkyltrimethylammonium salts. After a treatment with phosphoric acid, this material can be calcined without structural collapse. The resulting zirconium oxo phosphate shows BET surface areas of up to 400 m2 g−1.
