Abstract:
Dieser Beitrag untersucht den Wechsel im Leitbild der Mikrofinanz von Unternehmerkrediten hin zu finanzieller Inklusion. Die Publikationen drei führender Organisationen werden diskursanalytisch untersucht und der Strategiewechsel in der Mikrofinanz aus den Perspektiven der Zweckrationalität und des Institutionalismus beleuchtet. Im Ergebnis wird erkennbar, dass der proklamierte Strategiewechsel weniger aus rationaler Verbesserung im Sinne der Armutsreduktion als aus „Mythos und Zeremonie“ zwecks organisationalen Selbsterhalts eintrat.
Abstract:
This contribution assesses the shift in the mission of microfinance, from small loans for entrepreneurs to financial inclusion. Three leading organisations’ publications inform a discourse analysis which allows the strategic shift in microfinance to be understood using the perspectives of rationalism and institutionalism. The proclaimed shift in strategy is revealed as consisting less of rational innovation toward the aim of poverty reduction than of “myth and ceremony” in the interest of organizational self-preservation.
