Abstract:
The magnetic properties of a ferrimagnetic system consisting periodically of two layers of spin-1/2 A atoms, two layers of spin-3/2 B atoms, and a disordered interface in between that is characterized by a random arrangement of A and B atoms of A(p)B(1-p) type and a negative A-B coupling, are examined by the use of the effective field theory within the framework of the probability distribution technique. We find a number of characteristic phenomena. In particular, the effect of disordered interfaces, the interlayer coupling and the transverse field on both the compensation temperature and the magnetization profiles are clarified.
