Abstract: Besides the classic chromatographically useful interactions like adsorption, partition, ion exchange, and gel permeation in fewer cases also π-bonding, complex formation, and salting out effects are being used. After a short description of modern techniques gel chromatography in aqueous and in non-aqueous systems is mentioned with pointing to the adsorptive and carrier properties of different gels. — Some recent results in chromatography of amino acids, peptides, proteines, nucleotides etc. have been enumerated.
