 Abstract: Darmlose Oligochaeten sind kleine Meereswürmer von 1–2 cm Länge und 0,2 mm Durchmesser, die weder Mund noch Darm noch Nephridien besit-zen. Stattdessen beherbergen sie bakterielle Endosymbionten, die dieFunktion des Verdauungs- und Exkretionssystems übernommen haben.Erste physiologische und morphologische Studien deuteten darauf hin,dass diese Symbiose auf Chemoautotrophie beruht.
