Abstract: We present an in-depth study of the recently proposed novel laser-ion acceleration scheme Chirped-standing-wave acceleration. This scheme surpasses the scaling properties of previously studied thermal laser-based ion acceleration scheme while simultaneously offering unprecedented stability and control over the ion beam properties. In this work we elaborate on the possibilities of controlling ion beam properties such as ion energy and particle number collectively by tuning the laser's chirp and the target parameters in a consistent way. We provide quantitative estimates for the proposed scheme's capabilities and highlight its tunability.
