Zusammenfassung: Technologies associated with virtual reality, i.e. sensory display technology, motion capture, eye-tracking and computer vision techniques for abstracting information from the world have proven to be useful for training, assessing and evaluating sports performance. In the past five years, virtual reality has gone from being costly and under development (typically greater than 10K Euro) to mostly commodity prices. In this talk I will present some of the most exciting research findings in sports science that have used virtual reality technology, some examples of how virtual reality can control stimuli such as to better understand human motor control (i.e. Streuber et al. 2012 and von Lassberg et al. ) and a future vision that virtual reality technology can help in several areas of sports sciences, i.e. health across the lifespan; sports training; and sports evaluation.
