 Abstract: We demonstrate that both encoding and memory processes affect recognition of own- and other-race faces differently. Static own-race faces are better recognized than static other-race faces but this other-race effect is not found for rigidly moving faces. Further, this effect is larger in short-term memory than in long-term memory.
