Abstract:
Face blindness or “prosopagnosia” is a disorder which impairs face recognition. That means that people who are face blind cannot recognize another person by his or her face. For my PhD thesis I work with congenital prosopagnosics, i.e. people who are face blind from birth
on. During my work I tested a lot of prosopagnosic participants and collected their reports and stories. In my talk I will try to give a general idea what it feels like to be prosopagnosic, what face blind people see when they look at faces, what the everyday challenges are, and
what strategies they use to recognize their family members and friends nonetheless.
