Abstract:
This article offers a brief review of current MRI principles relevant to evaluate the different components of articular cartilage. The report explains how MRI techniques provide information about the biochemical and physiological status of cartilage. With regard to clinical applications, the use of MR imaging for evaluating cartilage repair procedures is summarized. The opportunities and issues of high field 3T systems are addressed.
