Abstract: Septoria Tritici Blotch (STB) is one of the most devastating diseases of wheat. This leaf disease is
triggered by the fungus Zymoseptoria tritici (Z. t.). The infection cycle of this fungus is special because
it‘s divided in an asymptomatic and a necrotophic phase.
In the present thesis the influence of Z. t. onto the metabolic profile of resistent and susceptible wheat
cultivars is investigated by FT-ICR-MS. The main result of this thesis is that the fungus has a big impact
on the metabolism of the wheat leaves of susceptible wheat cultivars 14 days post infection (dpi). On
this leaves in contrast to leaves of resistent wheat cultivars symptoms of STB occur 14 dpi and a
programmed cell death can be recognized.
