 Abstract: This introductory session aims to give background information about open access publishing in the Max Planck Society and our Institute. Basic information about the goldem and green route to open access will be provided. All central agreements and further related terms and conditions for Max Planck authors will be explained. As a very improtant outcomethe session should starta discussion what kind of services related to open access publishing is missing at the Institute and could possibly be part of the library services. Establishing an open access policy is a conceivable objective.
