Abstract:
The joumal AMAZONIANA was founded by Djalma Batista and Harald Sioli in 1965
so that German and Brazilian scientists could publish the results of their successful collaboration in the Amazon region in a journal that was distributed worldwide. Including this present
issue, 10 (4), ten complete volumes with approximately 5200 printed pages have been published in the last 24 years. Articles deal with all aspects of the Amazonian ecosystem and
include research in all the relevant natural sciences from geology, physics, and chemistry to
the many disciplines of biology. Because scientists from other countries who worked on
Amazonian problems were interested in publishing their work in our journal, we now print
articles in fìve languages.
In the last few years, the world's public has become awake of the problems in Amazonia. For this reason, we decided that with the completion of volume 10, we would list all
articles published up to now, so that any new researcher interested in this area can see what
specific work has been conducted in the last 24 years.
