 Abstract: The life cycle of two harvestmen (Laniatores: Opiliones) of a Central Amazonian black water
inundation forest is revealed by interpreting catches in pitfall traps. Sequential nymph development to
the adult phase takes place mainly on the forest floor during the emersion period. Reproduction, embryonic stages, and the first postembryonic development most probably occur in the trunc-canopy
area during the submersion period.
