 Abstract: Studies using antibodies raised against DNA helicase II of E.coli and applied to subcellular E.coli DNA replicating systems suggest that DNA helicase II participates in the unwinding of DNA molecules, which initiate replication as closed circles. A similar role for the rep protein has been implicated in the rolling circle model of replication of the double-stranded forms of fd and øX174.
