Abstract: Purpose of the study was to evaluate the potential of BOLD fMRI techniques to assess angiotensin II (A2) induced renovascular responsiveness. The effect
of A2 on kidney T2* was compared to the effect of other vasoactive susbstances like sodium nitroprusside (SNP) or norepinephrine (NE). To avoid motion
artifacts and to obtain a good temporal resolution a multi-echo EPI technique was used. A2 caused a shortening of T2* between 6\% and 10\%, whereas
neither SNP nor NE lead to significant changes in T2*. It can be concluded that BOLD MRI is suitable to assess A2-induced responsiveness of the renal vasculature.
