Abstract: Membrane proteins establish the connection between the outside and
the inside of a cell. Even though 30 percent of proteins in a cell are mem -
brane associated, their structural data is strongly underrepresen ted
due to the high fl exibility and low purifi cation yield. The resolution re -
volution in cryo-EM opened up new opportunities to solve structures of
dynamic membrane proteins that can only be purifi ed in small quantities.
