Abstract: Electron cryo-microscopy of two-dimensional crystals of the major light-harvesting complex from pea chloroplasts has revealed the structure at 3A Å resolution. The atomic model provides insights into the molecular architecture, function and assembly of this key component of the photosynthetic membrane and will enable us to understand how energy is transferred to the photosynthetic reaction centres.
