Abstract: To initiate fast biochemical reactions in the msec time range, special mixing techniques are generally applied, exhibiting the disadvantage of requiring fairly large volumes and inducing mechanical disturbances. In order to avoid this, eq. for kinetic investigations in solution or transport studies across membranes involving cations, photo-cleavable ligands exhibiting high affinity to selected alkali or alkaline earth cations have been developed.
