 Abstract: This work deals with the measurement of electronic transitions in highly charged ions
in the optical range in an electron beam ion trap (EBIT). This thesis is split into two
main parts: First, a Czerny-Turner-Spectrometer was put into operation and calibrated,
in order to attach it to a small EBIT. The second part consists of the measurement and
assignment of optical transitions in highly charged Xe-ions. Estimations showed that
transitions resulting from Xe13+ to Xe36+were found. Precise analysis in the range from
Xe30+to Xe34+was done. Previously known transitions have been reconfirmed and also
new lines were found.
