Abstract: Misinformation presents a challenge to societies worldwide but the cognitive computations underlying its detection and use are only coarsely understood. In this talk, I will introduce a behavioural task and accompanying Bayesian models that allow us to study key aspects of the phenomenon and frame it as a learning problem about the trustworthiness of information providers. Alongside, I will present pilot data, highlighting participants' successes and failures.
