Abstract:
The5E(D) →5T2(D) photoluminescence of V+ (d4) is studied for ZnS and ZnSe atT = 4.2 K. ZnSe displays a no-phonon peak at 3640 cm-1, ZnS a triplet near 3914 cm-1. The vibronic structure of the emission spectra indicates combined spin-orbit and Jahn-Teller interactions. Excitation spectra are recorded and described by a Tanabe-Sugano calculation in the lower energy range while charge-transfer processes occur at higher energies.
