Abstract:
The problem of derivation of gases content parameters from ground-based measurements of thermal IR radiation has been considered. Measurement device has been assumed to be the Fourier-spectrometer with spectral resolution equal to 0.3-1.0 cm(-1) and spectral region 4-18 mum.
The possibility of determining the vertical characteristics of temperature, moisture and ozone content from ground-based spectrometer measurements has been studied. It has been shown that in cloudless conditions the errors of determining of total ozone content are 3-6%, total water vapor content -2-4%. The retrieval potential errors of water vapor amount in the lower troposphere are 1-3%, in the middle troposphere -8-15%. Total ozone contents in the troposphere, the stratosphere and integrated column may be estimated with errors of 4-7%, 3-5% and 2-4% respectively.
The possibility of trace gas (N2O, CH4, and CFC-11, CFC-12, CO) total contents determining has been studied. The remote measurements offer information on column content of trace-gases like N2O, CH4, CFC-11, CFC-12 and CO with potential accuracy of 3-5%, 6-8%, 5-8%, 6-8% and 8-12%, respectively.
The examples of ground-based spectrometer measurement interpretation are given and analyzed. Some comparison with direct measurements and mean climatic data has been performed.
