Abstract:
The Amazonian inundation forest is seasonally flooded by the high waters of the adjacent rivers. The aquatic animals as well as the trerrestrial ones, which inhabit this forest, have developed three types of suvival strategies: 1. high reproduction rate and short development, 2. adaption to the seasonal rhythm of the high waters, 3. amphibic life. The most interesting survival strategy, viz. the adaptation of the life cycle to the rhythm of inundations, may occur in form of a diapause or a change of habitat. Air temperature is considered to be a timing factor.
