Abstract: Electron energy loss (EEL) spectra of CO2 adsorbed and condensed on Fe(111), Fe(110) and stepped Fe(110) are presented. Linear adsorbed or condensed CO2 shows losses at 6, 8.5, 12, 13.3 and 15.3 eV. These spectra are compared with electronic excitations of gaseous CO2.
