Abstract:
A computer program in the language >SIMULA< is described which was developed for the surveillance of the CEA-concentration in sera of patients with adenocarcinoma of the gastric and colonic tract. The program is able to print individual diagrams of the time course of the CEA-concentration which allows a prognosis with respect to local relapse or formation of metastases. Furthermore, the program processes medical statistics on patients, files of specifications, individual medical records, and calls up all patients under surveillance either routinely every two months by letter or, in the case of a rapidly increasing CEA-concentration, without delay.
