Abstract:
Novel composites of titania nanocrystals and adsorptive nanoporous polymers have been successfully synthesized via a two-step solvothermal pathway. These composites are developed as bifunctional materials for both adsorption and photocatalysis, giving an enrichment and degradation system for removal of environmental pollutants. Titania nanoparticles (5-10 nm) with anatase phase disperse homogeneously in the matrix of nanoporous polymers. The composites exhibit nanoporous structure, high surface area (354-651 m2/g) and excellent stability. Experimental results show that the composites have superior adsorptive properties for organic compounds in water and air, as well as high photocatalytic activities under UV irradiation. These bifunctional materials would have promising potential for environmental protection.
