Abstract:
Fluorescence polarimetry has been used to determine the relative partial-wave Auger decay widths for transitions to states of the Xe II 5p46p multiplet after photoexcitation of the Xe* 4d5/2-16p(J* = 1) resonance by linearly and circularly polarized synchrotron radiation. Combination with data on the angular distribution and spin polarization of the Auger electrons, providing information on the relative phases of the amplitudes, constitutes the complete experiment on the Auger decay. Multiconfiguration relativistic calculations of the amplitudes have been performed and compared to the measurements.
