Abstract: The investigation of dynamic changes in solutions is very important in learning about reaction mechanisms. The laser temperature jump technique, which uses the solvent as energy absorber, allows the observation of kinetic events over a time scale from 100 ps to 1 s, and offers the possibility to produce temperature changes in volumes of a microlitre or less.
