Abstract: The infrared absorption-spectrum of both neutral and cationic toluene-argon has been measured in the range from 400 to 1700 cm(-1). The spectrum of the neutral complex compares well to previously measured spectra of toluene, whereas the spectrum of the cationic species represents the first complete survey of the vibrational structure of the cation. Both spectra are compared to results from ab initio calculations.
