 Abstract: Phytochemical studies of different plant parts and root cultures of Wachendorfia thyrsiflora (Haemodoraceae) resulted in 24 phenylphenalenones and related compounds, which were elucidated by means of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and mass spectrometry (MS). Among them, one new 9-phenylphenalenone, two new phenylphenalenone O-glycosides carrying the sugar moiety in position 4 of the 9-phenylphenalenone skeleton and two new 7-phenyl-benzoisochromenone-6-O-glucosides were identified.
