要旨

In this paper we present a client-side approach towards per- sonalization of web search which adapts the means of per- sonalization to the user need in place. We differentiate three different search goals: re-ﬁnding known information, ﬁnding out about topics of user interest, and satisfying an ad-hoc information need. Our approach carefully balances these search modes, which is endorsed by preliminary results of a small-scale user study.
