Abstract
The distribution of Gammarus in the watershed of the lower Fulda indicates damages predominantly in the highest and lowest parts of the drainage basin. On higher levels, damages are mainly caused by acidity, since the headwaters of the Fulda tributaries mainly drain sand-stone areas. In the lowest parts of the area, damages are caused by water pollution. On the whole the situation of Gammarus in the lower Fulda drainage system is worse than in the watershed of the upper Fulda.
